Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
A centerman who's face-off skills were highly regarded throughout the entirety of his hockey career, Ted Kennedy would spend his whole National Hockey League tenure wearing the blue and white of the Toronto Maple Leafs, captaining the club for a total of eight (8) seasons and leading them to Stanley Cup championships in 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1951. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966 and named one of the 100 Greatest Players in NHL History in 2017 during the league's centennial celebration, offered here, and originally hailing directly from the family of the former Maple Leafs captain, is this collection of three (3) jacket crests celebrating Toronto's Cup triumphs in 1947, 1948 and 1949. Each done in a shield design, the cream coloured chenille crests all boast the words "World Champions" in blue while the years "1946-7", "1947-8" and "1948-9" are found in the middle of each. With all three (3) woollen wonders displaying beautifully and preserved in near-perfect condition despite their ages, all three (3) measure roughly 5" across at their widest points. With close inspection revealing that these have never been affixed to a jacket or garment of any kind, the trio is accompanied by a Kennedy Family LOA.
