Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Rookie goalie Frank McCool posted shutouts in three straight games to begin the 1944-45 Stanley Cup finals as the Toronto Maple Leafs went on to beat the Detroit Red Wings. Teeder led the team in scoring during the post season with seven goals and a pair of assists for nine points in total. This charming wristwatch made by Doxa was awarded by the team's parent company, Maple Leaf Gardens, to the members of the victorious roster. The back casing reveals the inscribed "Ted Kennedy, World Champion Stanley Cup Winners 1944-45 From Maple Leaf Gardens". Although the historical watch shows the wear from decades of use, it is still in running condition and comes complete with the original stainless steel twist bracelet. Obtained from the family of former Leafs' captain Ted Kennedy, complete with their signed letter of provenance.
