Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
USA! USA! The United States was on top of the baseball world in 1988 with a 5-3 win in the Olympic final over Japan in Seoul, South Korea. With a lineup loaded with prospects and future All-Stars and World Series champions, the Americans exacted revenge for Japan’s win four years earlier in Los Angeles. Pitching stars Jim Abbott, Andy Benes and Charles Nagy led the way on the mound while Tino Martinez, Robin Ventura, Ed Sprague and Bret Barberie provided the offense for the U.S. to claim the title during the eight-team Olympic tournament that helped springboard baseball into an official sport four years later in Barcelona. Those seven players are among the 20 members of Team USA who have autographed this 1988 U.S. Olympic baseball team-signed Louisville Slugger wood baseball bat. The big and bold blue marker signatures surround the barrel, which has a ‘1988 Team USA “Gold Medal Winners” Limited Edition of 800’ plaque affixed to it. The top half of the bat has a nice glossy finish to it while the handle and knob are the smooth wood surface. Fantastic Olympic baseball piece with great MLB signatures comes with a JSA Auctions LOA.
