Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Winners of the inaugural Olympic hockey tournament in 1920, the Winnipeg Falcons featured a Scandinavian cast, with members a part of the River City’s large Icelandic community who weren’t able to join other clubs due to their ancestry. Led by HOFer Frank Fredrickson, the Falcons also included notables Bobby Benson, Magnus Goodman and goaltender Wally Byron. We have an extremely rare pennant featuring the Falcons 1920 gold medal win at the VII Olympiad in Belgium. At just over 40” in length (not including intact tassels), the soft yellow keepsake features felt over felt construction, with black letters affixed stating “World Champions 1920 Falcons”. Despite expected wear to the felt throughout its length, the pennant displays wonderfully, with the very tip clipped.
