Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A first-round draft choice of St. Louis in 1991 at 27th overall, Steve Staios played for six (6) different NHL clubs throughout his career, including Boston, Vancouver, Atlanta, Edmonton, Calgary and New York, while also winning gold twice with Team Canada at the IIHF World Championships. A veteran of 1001 games in the National Hockey League, offered here is this New York Islanders third jersey worn by Staios during the 2011-12 season, the final year of his lengthy career. Made by Reebok and sporting a lone size "56" label affixed to the inner collar, both NHL shield and Reebok patches have been added over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front with "Islanders" arched across the chest in stacked tri-layer tackle twill letters, matching Islanders primary logo patches have been placed atop of both shoulders. Accented over the front, sleeves and verso with Staios' number "24" in matching style stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Staios" is spelt out, also in matching style stacked tri-layer tackle twill letters, across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior and having had an Islanders "Game-Worn Jersey Program" tag serial numbered "333308" sewn inside the reverse hem, the jersey shows just very light wear through some board burns over the left forearm plus some frayed/loose threads on the interior.
