Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
The first left-winger in NHL history to score 60 goals in a single season, Steve Shutt accomplished the feat during the 1976-77 campaign. The Willowdale native also won an impressive five Stanley Cups during his career, including four consecutive during the late-1970s. We have a stick used by Shutt during his rookie era in the early-1970s, circa 1972-74. A Victoriaville Pro model, “Shutt” and “22” appear over the upper shaft, with both the lower and upper striping accents gone. The original tape remains over the knob, with heavy wear to the stick including marks over the blade and shaft along with paint transfer, with a section of the top of the blade missing. Despite the obvious flaws, the stick remains solid, ideal for display.
We should also note that images from the era picture Shutt using just a few strands of tape over the middle section of the blade.
