Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Contributing 29 points during the regular season as a defenseman and an additional 6 points in 18 playoff games, Stefan Persson helped the New York Islanders win the franchise's fourth consecutive Stanley Cup championship in 1982-83. For the club's status as Wales Conference playoff champions, members of the Islanders received miniature Prince of Wales trophies to commemorate their fine campaign, with “Stefan Persson” engraved along with that of the trophy on a metal plaque applied to one side of the 2-inch high wooden base, while engraving on a second plaque over the reverse reads "NHL Champions – New York Islanders – 1982-83". Four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from the base to support a cup with removable lid, giving the award a total height of 13". There is some oxidation to the engraved plaques, with the trophy slightly loose from the wooden base. There is also a few tiny blemishes to the trophy section. Originating from Persson’s personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany.
