Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Having roots in the United States dating all the way back to the middle of the 18th century, baseball has firmly cemented itself as “America’s Pastime” in the many years since then and has given sports fans some amazing moments along the way. The top recognition of any Major League Baseball player’s career, induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York has only been awarded to 342 individuals with 268 of them being players. Offered here, we present this collection of signed baseball memorabilia that includes a framed print, photos, and bats. Starting with the print, a lithograph by Cathy O'Hara done in recognition of Ted Williams' 1941 season. Serial numbered "6/250" and signed by both Williams and O'Hara with blue marker ink signatures that display well despite some light fading, the piece shows an image of Williams along with additional ones showing some of his career accolades. Framed to full dimensions of 20 1/4" x 24", the piece is double matted and is housed in a thin blue metal frame that shows light wear to the edges and corners while a small crack exists to the glass at the bottom right corner. Also including signed 8" x 10" photos of Al Kaline, George Kell and Rocky Colavito, each has been signed with either blue or black marker ink signatures that display without issue while the photos themselves are also in excellent condition. Finally, the final items included with the lot are full sized baseball bats made by Rawlings and Cooper that have been signed by Fergie Jenkins and Cecil Fielder respectively. For the Jenkins bat, a Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick model twig that measures 32", the signature is found over the barrel in black marker ink that has faded with age while the Fielder bat, a Cooper Pro 100 Professional Model based off his game bats, the piece is a commemorative offering made in recognition of the fifty-one (51) home runs he hit during the 1990 season. Signed over the barrel with a gold ink signature, a serial number reading "65/100" is found alongside the autograph in matching ink while the autograph itself remains in good condition with some lightness in areas from age. Both bats are also found to be in good condition with just light handling wear found over each. A JSA Auction LOA will accompany the lot.
