Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Ending in a shootout, Sidney Crosby scored the game-winning goal at the inaugural Winter Classic when the Penguins faced off against the Buffalo Sabres at Ralph Wilson Stadium on January 1st, 2008. Sporting vintage-styled “throwback” jerseys, the Penguins wore baby blue for the first time since 1973. In excellent condition, this item was signed by Sid the Kid in fine blue marker on the back number "7" and the signature is nice, clean and bold. This authentic Reebok jersey features a retro crest with a circle around the Penguins mascot - reminiscent of the 1968-69 team logo - as well as a NHL Winter Classic 2008 patch on the upper right chest and the captain's “C” on the upper left. The collar has a tie-up neck with the NHL logo centered above the laces. A CCM tag with size “54”, Reebok’s tag and black collar band are stitched inside the neck. Reebok’s logo is also affixed to the upper back above the nameplate and #87 numbers. Accompanied by a JSA Auction LOA, this item commemorates a historic game and a legendary player.
