Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Backstopping NHL creases for two decades, Sean Burke tended the nets of nine different NHL clubs throughout his career while also representing Canada on the international stage including at the Canada Cup, IIHF World Championships and Winter Olympics. We have a jersey worn by Burke with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2000-01, along with a stick used by the Windsor native circa 1992-93 with Hartford. A label is affixed to the collar with size “58” tag, with a CCM crest to the reverse neckline. An NHL shield crest is embroidered into the reverse hem, with the front of the jersey decorated with a Coyotes Katchina team crest with embroidered details, while matching alternate logo patches have been added over each shoulder. Accented over the sleeves and verso with "1” in dual layer tackle twill numerals, “Burke” is spelt out in matching style across the affixed nameplate. The jersey shows nice use including a few puck marks to the front and sleeves, with the team patch residing on the inside hem. An LOA from the Coyotes will accompany the jersey. The stick is a Victoriaville model with "S. Burke" stamped to the upper shaft, with the original tape to the knob, handle, paddle and blade. Heavy use is shown, with sections of the heal and toe missing and cracks beneath the blade tape with wear and marks to the paddle and chipping along the edge. Burke has signed the lower paddle in marker.
