Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The driving force behind the historically epic Summit Series in 1972, Alan Eagleson had the players agree to participate in his role as the executive director of the NHL Players Association. This gorgeous 14k gold ring was presented to Eagleson by Johnny Esaw of CTV following one of the games in Moscow. Identical to the examples presented to the “player of the game”, the scarce size 8 keepsake features a weight of approx 12 grams. Crossed hockey sticks supporting Canadian and Soviet flags reside over the tableau, with “1972” beneath, with “Canada” engraved on one stick blade and “USSR” on the other. “14k” is stamped to the inner band, with “R. Alan Eagleson” engraved in attractive script. The ring exhibits moderate to heavier wear from use, with numerous scratches visible over the outer band and along the shanks, with the band having lost its circular continuity. Originating from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Alan Eagleson will accompany.
