Created by the Perini Corporation to celebrate the Milwaukee Braves 1957 World Series Championship, this lot contains 28 player glasses that were created as gifts for Perini executives and others. These rare glasses originate with the Canadian President of Perini, who also served as a director of the Milwaukee Braves baseball club. Each glass features the Braves logo with “1957 World Champs”, along with portraits of the glasses’ specific player. With no duplication present, each glass features a different player. Highlights include Hank Aaron, Ed Mathews, Warren Spahn, Lew Burdette, Red Schoendienst and others.
Evenly split between two different sizes, the taller glasses are just over 5 ½” in height with a rim circumference of roughly 2 ¾”, while the smaller examples are just under 4 ½”, with the rim’s just over 3 ½” across. Along with the aforementioned players, other glasses feature Andy Pafko, Bill Bruton, Mel Roach, Nippy Jones, Joe Adcock, Felix Mantilla, Wes Covington, John Logan, John DeMerit, Bob Hazle, Frank Torre, Bob Trowbridge, Del Rice, Gene Conley, Don McMahon, Carl Sawatski, Dave Jolly, Del Crandall, Taylor Phillips, Ernie Johnson, Fred Haney, Juan Pizzaro and Bob Buhl. The majority of the glasses remain in beautiful problem-free condition, with the odd examples exhibiting marks, scratches and or wear to the rims/transfers.
