Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
First playing in 18 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1969-70 followed by 71 games with the Vancouver Canucks in 1971-72, Ron Ward played in a number of leagues during his career, including his last five seasons in the WHA. From his first season in the rebel league, we have a team-signed stick used by Ward with the short-lived New York Raiders in 1972-73. A Victoriaville Pro model with "R Ward" and "6" stamped to the upper shaft, the original white tape remains over the knob and blade (the blade appears to be possibly missing a few strands). 18 marker signatures are present on one side of the shaft including Norm Ferguson, Pete Donnelly, Bob Winograd, Ken Block, Hal Willis, Bill Speer, Brian Bradley, Craig Reichmuth, Wally Olds, Ted Scharf, Brian Perry, Mike Laughton, Gary Kurt and a few others. Some of the signatures over the black graphics on the stick are hard to make out. The stick shows nice game-use with puck marks to both sides of the blade and lower shaft, with a chip to the top edge of the blade and wear at the toe. There is also additional wear to the shaft and knob, with one of the striping accents gone, and one partially remaining.
