Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Historic as both the final Stanley Cup competed for before expansion and the Toronto Maple Leafs most recent championship, the 1966-67 finals would go six games, with a heavily favoured Montreal squad humbled by a veteran Leafs squad that included Hall of Fame members Terry Sawchuk, Tim Horton, Allan Stanley, Frank Mahovlich and others. This stick used by Ron Ellis has been team-signed by the 1966-67 Stanley Cup champion Maple Leafs. A CCM Custom Pro Pattern Made model with "Ellis" and "8" stamped to the upper shaft, the original black tape is in place over the blade and white over the handle. 16 have signed one side of the shaft in both marker and ink, including Ellis, along with Sawchuk, Horton, Kelly, Stanley, Mahovlich, Pronovost, Keon, Hillman, Stemkowski, Pappin, Jeffrey, Brenneman, Haggert (trainer) and two others. The signatures display well including the Horton and Sawchuk. The stick shows light to moderate use with a few puck marks to the blade and lower shaft, with a pair of cracks to the blade. There is also a small amount of white paint over the upper shaft, with what appears appears to be shellac applied over the side of the shaft with the signatures.
