Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A veteran of sixteen (16) Major League Baseball seasons after signing with the San Diego Padres as a seventeen (17) year old, Roberto Alomar would claim the Gold Glove Award on ten (10) occasions throughout his career to go along with twelve (12) all-star appearances and four (4) Silver Slugger Awards. Named the MVP of the 1992 American League Championship Series and a two-time World Series champion, happening in back-to-back years of 1992 and 1993, offered here is this bat used by Alomar during the 1992 MLB All-Star Game in San Diego that was hosted by the Padres. A Cooper Professional C243 model stick from the company's Pro 100 lineup of bats, all those notations as well as "Roberto Alomar" are stamped in white ink over the barrel while a Cooper logo appears over the neck, stamped in matching style. Accented further for the MLB's annual mid-summer classic with "1992 Major League All Star Game - Jack Murphy Stadium - San Diego, California" stamped in white ink over bottom of the barrel between the typically seen stampings/logos, a colourful accent stripping sticker is affixed around the top of handle and remains fully intact. Void of Alomar's usually seen heavy layer of pine tar over entirety of the handle, the end of the knob features his number "12" penned in black marker ink, which has also been stamped with "34 1/2" and "31 OZ" for the length/weight. Uncracked and intact, the bat shows just light use overall considering it is from a single exhibition contest, with a small amount of dirt/gunk seen over the handle and ball/cleat/rack marks present throughout the barrel.
