Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Somewhat lacking according to the taste of netminder Robert Esche, we have a professional facial mold-constructed goal mask custom made by Dom Malerba of “The Pro’s Choice”, with this particular example painted for, and returned by the noteworthy netminder, as he didn’t approve of the finished product. Painted by mask artist Ron Slater with his gold paint pen signature over the left inner ear, the maker Malerba has signed and dated the mask “2004” over the inner right, with the cage, back head plate, chin strap and interior padding all present. Featuring a long-haired hat-wearing skeleton over the forehead, black and white images of musicians grace each side – possibly Kid Rock and Jerry Garcia – with a stick-wielding bull over the chin section. “Chico” also appears over the head plate, along with a few images of vintage-style goal masks. In absolutely gorgeous condition with no issues, the mask is ready for prominent display.
A black Pro’s Choice carry and storage bag with moderate wear will accompany the mask.
