Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A product of the Kamloops Jr. Oilers/Blazers who appeared in a pair of Memorial Cup's during his junior career, Rob Brown would be drafted 67th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 1986 NHL Entry Draft and go on to play a total of 543 games in the National Hockey League over the course of his career, suiting up with the likes of the Penguins, Whalers, Blackhawks, Stars and Kings. Also playing in over 500 games combined in the AHL/IHL, offered here is this Penguins jersey worn by Brown during his final NHL season of 1999-2000. Made by Pro Player, brand/NHL Center Ice Authentic Collection and size "52" labeling is affixed to the inner collar while the logos of both Pro Player and the NHL have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Displaying a now faded "44" penned over the Pro Plyer label in black marker ink, the jersey is decorated over the front with a Penguins team crest that features both embroidered and textured details. Having had the NHL2000 patch that was worn by all the league's teams to celebrate the new millennium added over the right breast, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Brown's number "44" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals. Displaying "Brown" spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse, the interior of the jersey retains its original fight strap. Displaying good game-wear throughout including stick marks and board burns over the front and reverse plus stick marks, board burns and unrepaired holes over both sleeves, the interior features heavy pilling around both elbows and "Krista" penned behind the crest in black marker ink. Regarding the photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #1287527183 (December 12th, 1999 vs Toronto) to the stick mark through the bottom portion of the front crest.
