Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
A product of the St. St. Catharines/Hamilton Finncups as well as the Brantford Alexanders in the OMJHL, Rick Wamsley would be selected 59th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 1979 NHL Entry Draft and would go on to play a total of 407 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of Montreal, St. Louis, Calgary and Toronto, winning a Stanley Cup with Calgary in 1989. Offered here, we present this St. Louis Blues jersey worn by Wamsley during the 1986-87 campaign. Made by CCM, partially detached Maska Ultrafil and born-on date tagging reading "86 07" is affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Measuring out to roughly a size "52", the front of the jersey is decorated with a familiar Blues team crest with "Blues" spelt out above, with both having been done in a heat pressed style. Having been styled over the sleeves and verso with Wamsley's number "30" in heat pressed on tri-layer numerals, "Wamsley" is spelt out in heat pressed on white letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Of note, as with most St. Louis jerseys from that season, the nameplate was most likely removed and then reattached. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows game-wear via puck marks throughout the front and both sleeves while it is also worth pointing out that there are some spot stains scattered throughout also and that the heat pressed vinyl crests, numbers and letters do show damage/cracking, which is heaviest on the reverse numbers.
