Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Playing his junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League as a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, Rick Tocchet would be drafted 121st overall by the Philadelphia Flyers at the 1983 NHL Entry Draft and would enjoy a National Hockey League career that would see him play in a total of 1144 games over the course of eighteen (18) years in the league. Donning the colours of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington and Phoenix over that time and winning a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 1992, offered here is this Pittsburgh jersey worn by Tocchet during the 1992-93 season. Made by CCM and sporting a lone size "54" fly tag affixed to the inner collar, the logos of both CCM and the NHL have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Penguins team crest that features both textured and embroidered details throughout its entirety, the Stanley Cup centennial patch that was worn by all the league's team's throughout the season has been added over the right breast while the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been affixed over the left breast. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Tocchet's number "22" in dual layer black-over-yellow tackle twill numerals, "Tocchet" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, the jersey displays game-wear via stick marks throughout the front, reverse and both sleeves as well as light board burns over both sleeves, the jersey also displays a red coloured board paint transfer over the left sleeve and some light pilling around the collar. Signed by Tocchet behind the crest on the interior, an LOA will accompany the piece.
