Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Goalie Rick Heinz capped his pro career with a Turner Cup championship with the 1986-87 Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the International Hockey League. Heinz, who had two NHL shutouts in 49 games with Vancouver and St. Louis in the early 1980s, went 12-4 in 16 playoff games to go out on top with the Golden Eagles. An image of the Turner Cup is visible within the green stone set in the tableau of Heinz’s 1986-87 Turner Cup championship ring. “Salt Lake Golden Eagles” in raised letters surrounding it on the bezel. This gorgeous championship bauble has an approximate weight of 20 grams and “Gold Lance - Trillium” is engraved the substantial size 13 band. “Heinz” is displayed above the raised Golden Eagles logo on one shank, and a raised image of the Turner Cup is set in the other shank with “Turner Cup 86-87 IHL Champions” surrounding it. In lovely condition with a few nicks and scuffs to the band from proud wear.
