Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
One of the truly great stories that make up the rich history of the game, Ray Bourque devoted 21 seasons to the Boston Bruins, and despite leading a number of talented clubs, the Beantowners were never able to grasp a championship during his tenure. With the desire to hoist Lord Stanley’s grail before his career ended, Ray played his final season and a half with Colorado, and was able to realize his dream, becoming a Stanley Cup champion during the final game of his HOF career. Offered here, we present this helmet worn by Bourque during his short stint with the Avs in 1999-2000 and 2000-01. A Bauer branded bucket in black that retains most of the padding on the interior but is sticky to the touch due to the adhesive running over time, the helmet also retains its strapping harness and chin strap and is broken over both sides near the ears. Sporting a 1XCEL visor over the front of the helmet that has an NHL shield decals added over the top edge of it, a Bauer logo appears over the front of the helmet, along with a pair of Avalanche logo decals over each side. With a pair of "77" decals appearing over the lower reverse, the helmet shows wear via a number of marks, scratches and scuffs throughout its entirety, Bourque has signed the helmet over the top with a silver marker ink signature that displays well despite some minor wear and scratching. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, their signed LOA will accompany the piece.
