Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A fan favourite throughout his considerable time with the Boston Bruins, serving as the club’s most tenured team captain, Ray Bourque transitioned from Beantown to Denver after 21 seasons and spent a pair of seasons with the Aves which included winning a Stanley Cup his final year. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004 and holding the NHL record for most career goals, assists, and points by a defenceman in the history of the league, offered here is this pair of skates worn by Bourque during his Norris Trophy winning season of 1993-94. Micron Mega model 10-90 skates featuring "Tuuk" blade holders over the bottom, Bourque's "77" as well as "11-93" has been penned over the bottom of each skate in black marker ink. Featuring the company's patented "Power Clip" over the inside of each foot near the toe cap, the skates retain their original blades, laces and insoles while the blade holders are marked as being a size "288". Showing excellent game-wear throughout via puck marks and red post paint transfers as well as numerous marks, frays and other abrasions plus some sock lint/pills on the inside of each tongue, stitched reinforcements appear over both skates as does cracking to the leather on both as well.
Additionally, also included is a stick used by Bourque as a member of the Bruins in the early-1990s. A Sher-Wood P.M.P. 7030 model twig with "Bourque 77" factory graphics over the upper shaft and "Made Exclusively for Ray Bourque 77" on the underside of the lower shaft, numerous factory codes, including one reading "Boston" are found stamped under the fiberglass of lower shaft's underside as well. Retaining its original well worn white tape job around the shaved handle and black around the blade, the stick shows use via some marks and abrasions throughout while retaining most of the foil accent sticker around the lower shaft as well. Futhermore, the bottom edge of the blade shows heavy wear and cracking, likely falling victim to street hockey, while both sides of the original black blade tape show marks and tears.
