Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
The most central figure of the iconic 1972 Summit Series was Team Canada’s Phil Esposito. The great goal scorer that propelled the Big, Bad Bruins to two Stanley Cup wins was front and center throughout the legendary eight-game series pitting the NHL’s best players against the Soviet Union’s dominant international team. From Phil Esposito’s personal collection, these two signed Team Canada jerseys straight from the hands of Espo himself include a team-signed white jersey that features 23 signatures, including Phil and Tony Esposito, Paul Henderson, Ken Dryden, Yvan Cournoyer, Stan Mikita, Serge Savard, Jean Ratelle, Pete Mahovlich, Pat Stapleton, Bill White, Brian Glennie, Rod Seiling, Ed Johnston, John Ferguson and Harry Sinden, and a red jersey bearing Phil’s black marker autograph. The Team of the Century patch is sewn on the right breast of the team-signed jersey with a size XL flag tag in the neck. Rod Gilbert signed in blue marker while the rest of the autographs are in black marker and also include Rick Martin, Red Berenson, Don Awrey, and Jocelyn Guevremont. The red jersey has a size XL flag tag below the Roger Edwards Sports tagging in the back of the collar. This pair of autographed Team Canada 1972 jerseys will come with an LOA signed by Phil Esposito.
