Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Setting a number of NHL records during his HOF career including the first to score both 100 and 150 points in a season, Phil Esposito received a signing bonus from the Chicago Black Hawks in October of 1962 while starting the season with the EPHL's St Louis Braves. He would make his NHL debut for the Hawks on Jan 16, 1964 vs Montreal. This is the original typed bonus signed by Espo with the autograph graded GEM MT 10 by PSA/DNA. At 5" x 8", the typed sheet lists "1962-63 Season" and "October 1962", with $1,000 for signing which Esposito already received, with mention of an additional $1,000 after playing his first season in the NHL. Esposito has signed in blue ink, and the signature is perfect. This historic document with early signature would be ideal for any advanced Black Hawks or Esposito collection.
