Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
The late Pete Rose made baseball history at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium on April 13, 1984 when he became the only player other than Ty Cobb to reach 4,000 career hits. The one and only Charlie Hustle reached the rare and lofty milestone as a member of the Expos with a double of Philadelphia’s Jerry Koosman exactly 21 years after he got his first hit with the Cincinnati Reds. Rose, who died in 2024, surpassed Cobb’s career hit total and retired as the all-time MLB leader in hits (4,256), games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053), singles (3,215) and outs (10,328). Offered is a limited-edition Montreal Expos jersey signed by Rose, the powder blue button-up style offering measures out to roughly a size "50" and is decorated over the front with an Expos team crest while Rose's number "14" is found over both the front and reverse. Having had "Rose" spelt out over the upper reverse, "4000th Hit - April 13th 1984" is embroidered underneath the number on the front while "Limited Edition #10/500" is found on the opposite side near the bottom. Signed by Rose with a blue marker ink signature that displays without issue, annotations reading "Hit #4000 - 4/13/84" and "Charlie Hustle" are found underneath in matching ink and condition. A Pete Rose hologram is affixed to the left side of the Expos logo sewn on the front left and the autographed 4,000th hit jersey comes with a Peter Rose COA signed by Rose in blue ballpoint.
