Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Hailing from London, Ontario and originally drafted 660th overall by the California Angels at the 1986 MLB Draft, Paul Quantrill would be drafted a second time three (3) years later by the Boston Red Sox (161st overall) and go on to pitch a total of fourteen (14) years in the Major Leagues with the likes of Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego and Florida. Offered here, we present this Blue Jays jersey worn by Quantrill during the 1998 season. A button up garment made by Wilson, a brand label is affixed to the inner collar as well as a fly tag reading "2 Inch X-Length" and a strip tag in the same material as the jersey itself that displays "48 97 2" for the player/year/set. Also including a size "50" label affixed to the inner collar, the front of the jersey is decorated with "Toronto" arched across the chest in stacked trilayer light tackle twill letters with Quantrill's number "48" seen below that in matching style while a Blue Jays team patch has been added over the left sleeve. Featuring all the buttons still firmly in place over the front, the front and reverse of the jersey has been decorated with Quantrill's number "48" in numerals that match the ones spelling out "Toronto" over the front while "Quantrill" is spelt out over the upper reverse in matching style letters that have been individually sewn on directly to the material in a gentle arch. Also sporting tri colour knitted accents at the end of both cuffs, the jersey shows evidence of game-wear via some good dirt staining over the lower front and material rubbing on the interior
