Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A veteran of 901 National Hockey League games with the Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers after being drafted 230th overall by Nashville at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Patric Hornqvist would win back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with Pittsburgh in 2016 and 2017. Wearing the colours of his birth country on numerous occasions throughout his career, winning gold with Team Sweden at the 2018 IIHF World Hockey Championships, offered here is this Penguins jersey worn by Hornqvist during the first (1st) period of Pittsburgh's 2019 NHL Stadium Series contest against the Philadelphia Flyers on February 23rd, 2019. Made by Adidas, a band displaying both "Made in Canada" and size "54" designations is affixed to the inner collar while the crests of both the NHL and Adidas have been added over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a black and yellow Penguins team crest that was designed specifically for the game and features both embroidered and textured details, the all-important 2019 NHL Stadium Series event patch has been added atop of the right shoulder. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Hornqvist's number "72" in single layer yellow twill numerals, "Horqvist" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior which has been marked with a "1" in black marker ink to denote it as being a first (1st) period offering, a Fanatics event specific tag listing the date of the game and the event logo has been sewn on inside the reverse hem alongside a pair of Penguins event specific team tags, including one that lists the jersey as being a first (1st) period example. Sporting a Fanatics hologram serial numbered "AA0035167" affixed over the fight strap, the jersey shows game-wear via some white coloured board paint transfers over the right elbow and underneath the front crest. Also showing a small board burn over the right elbow and light marks in the front crest, it is worth noting that the jersey was originally sold via NHL Auctions.
