Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
While serving as a scout for the Boston Bruins, Wren Blair signed Bobby Orr, then a 14-year-old phenom, to the Bruins-sponsored Oshawa Generals. Orr would later score 94 points in 47 games, helping the Generals win the Ontario Hockey Association championship in 1966 before beginning his HOF career in the NHL. Hailing from Blair's personal collection, we have a 1965-66 Generals OHA Junior "A" championship medal. Sporting a raised player on the front with an enamel Ontario coat of arms and "OHA", the reverse has "Oshawa Generals Jr A Championship 1965-66 Peter Nevin" engraved, along with "Trophy Craft GF" (GF is gold filled) stamped at the bottom. Nevin is not listed as playing for the team this season, but he may have served as a reserve. He did suit up for the club in 1966-67 and 1967-68. There are a few marks on the reverse, with the medal in otherwise excellent condition.
