Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
A second place finish at the conclusion of the 1952-53 NHL regular season, the Montreal Canadiens were topped by Rocket Richard in goals, assists and points as well as penalty minutes, with Jacques Plante posting a miniscule 1.33 GAA. The Habs would meet the forever rival Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup final and lose just a single match en route to the franchise's seventh championship. Paul Masnick - the last surviving member of the 1953 Cup winning Canadiens - scored a crucial goal that acted as an insurance marker in Game 3 of the finals on April 12, 1953. Originating from his personal collection, we have Masnick's mini stick team-signed by the 1953 Stanley Cup champion Canadiens. At just over 13" in total length, 22 total blue ballpoint signatures appear on both sides, including Masnick, along with deceased HOFers Richard, Lach, Harvey, Geoffrion, Johnson, Bouchard, Moore, Plante and coach Dick Irvin, as well as Meger, Gamble, Curry, Mosdell, Reay, McCormack, St Laurent, MacPherson, MacKay, Mazur, Davis and Gerry McNeil. The signatures remain as dark as the day they were written. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
