Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Goalie Mike Veisor’s 1978-79 Chicago Black Hawks game-worn jersey is photo-matched to an 8x10 of him in uniform. The black thread team repair at the top of the lower black stripe on the right sleeve shows in the photo as do the red marks at the bottom of the crossed tomahawks patch on the right shoulder as well as a few washed out black marks below the team crest on the front. Wilson size 48 and Gunzo’s tagging remain in the neck of this gamer that was recycled for use with the Major Junior WHL Portland Winter Hawks as was a common practice in this era. The Veisor nameplate would have been removed when it was recycled for the Winter Hawks, who played at Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Ore.
Ian Wood wore this jersey while playing for the Winter Hawks in the early-1980's and his nameplate remains on the jersey. There are outlines of a former #17 on the back and both sleeves and it was not unusual for the Hawks to do number changes on recycled jerseys.
