Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
One of the most successful American-born goaltenders, Mike Richter enjoyed over a dozen seasons in Manhattan, winning a Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994. The Pennsylvania native was also a major thorn in the side of Canadians, earning MVP status while winning gold at the 1996 World Cup. This stick was used by Richter with the Rangers in the early-to-mid-1990s. A Victoriaville Pro model, “M. Richter” is stamped to the upper shaft, with the original white tape over the blade and white-over-black on the knob in place, along with the NHL decal over the handle. Great game-use is apparent, with wear to the taped blade and underside including a large tear, with few large chips to the top edge of the paddle including a large example with cracking just above the blade. Despite these, the stick and blade remain completely solid. There is also wear to the taped knob, with some red paint transfer to the shaft. Richter has signed the blade near the heel in black marker, adding "All the Best", with some minor bleeding to the signature.
