Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Over a 19-season NHL career, Mike Gartner became one of the most prolific goal-scorers the
league has ever seen. Finishing with 708 goals, Mike is one of only eight players to surpass the
700-goal mark. Even in the later years of his career, Gartner racked up 30 goal seasons like it
was no problem.
Here we are displaying a two-piece Louisville TPS stick used by Gartner during the 1995-96
season. The stick remains structurally sound with some paint wear along the graphics. Gartner’s
original tape job on the knob remains intact, while the blade is bare and includes a beautifully
placed signature in blue marker at the center of the forehand. It must be noted that most of the graphics are worn-off to various degrees.
“GARTNER” is factory printed on the blade where it meets the shaft, with “GARTNER”
handwritten in black marker on the backside of the blade. The stick is dated “11-30-95” in pen,
tying it to a game where Gartner played in a 3-2 loss to the Flyers. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
These sticks come from the personal collection of Lou Nolan, the legendary voice of the
Philadelphia Flyers. Nolan has been a fixture with the Flyers since the team’s inception in 1967,
starting as a press box assistant before becoming the team’s public address announcer in
1972—a role he’s held ever since. For over five decades, he has been calling plays for Flyers
hockey, his voice guiding us through some of the franchise’s most iconic moments. This of
course includes their back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in 1974 and 1975. These sticks,
personally gifted to Nolan by some of the NHL’s biggest legends, reflect the relationships he’s
built over his storied career and the trust and admiration he’s earned within the NHL community
