Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Coming off a Hart Trophy winning season in 1946-47 along with selection as an NHL First Team All-Star, Maurice Richard would score a-point-a-game throughout the 1947-48 season, and register 89 penalty minutes - second on the team to Ken Reardon. Calling for a salary of $10,000 (just shy of $152,000.00 in 2024 dollars), this original Maurice Richard NHL contract for the 1947-48 season has been signed by the Rocket, along with fellow HOFers Clarence Campbell and Donat Raymond. A Standard Player’s Contract, the amounts are listed including a $100 bonus, with all three players signing in dark ink. With no issues for the signatures and light wear to the contract including fold lines, a crease to the lower portion (this does not affect any signatures) and punched holes over the left border from previous binder insertion, the contract would look fabulous framed with a photo of the Rocket from that season.
