Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Penguins goalie Matt Murray had already won the Stanley Cup twice when he was named to the 2016-17 NHL All-Rookie Team. Murray’s Vaughn Pro Elite game-used stick is from that unforgettable season in Pittsburgh when Sidney Crosby and the Pens repeated as Stanley Cup champions with a six-game win over the Nashville Predators. Murray went 32-10-4 with four shutouts, a 2.41 goals-against-average and a .923 save percentage during the regular season. After going 15-6 in the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs on the way to a six-game win over San Jose in the Cup final, Murray went 7-3 with three shutouts, a 1.70 GAA and a .937 save percentage in the 2017 playoffs. “Murray” factory graphis is on the upper shaft of Matt’s game-used stick from the 2016-17 season, which features a huge knob on the handle. The rest of Murray’s tape jobs on the lower shaft, upper paddle and blade are all intact and whole. Game wear is obvious throughout with black marks on the blade, paddle and shaft, red goalpost paint transfer on the upper shaft and top edge of the tape on the blade and on a puck gouge on the top edge of the lower paddle. The back edge of the heel has worn down where there is another smaller chip. A portion of the middle shaft has broken off the middle portion of the shaft exposing bare wood.
Comes with a Double Deke Hockey COA and their hologram is affixed to the back side of the stick.
