Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
No stranger to wearing the blue and white colours of his birth country, Mats Naslund would suit up for Team Sweden at numerous international tournaments throughout his fruitful career, including at the IIHF World Junior Championships, IIHF World Championships, Canada Cup and Olympic Games. Helping Sweden to World Championship gold in 1991 and a pair of Olympic medals, including bronze at 1980 Lake Placid and gold in 1994 at Lillehammer, offered here is this Team Sweden jersey worn by Naslund at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in which he posted seven (7) points in eight (8) to help Sweden win their first Olympic hockey gold medal. Made by Tackla, a brand label displaying a size "XL" designation is affixed to the inner collar while a "Wind Stopper" label appears above that. Sporting a fully sublimated design, the front of the jersey is decorated with Sweden's familiar "Tre Kronor" team crest printed into the material while the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's emblem appears in matching style over the left breast. Also showing a Reebok wordmark logo over the right breast and matching brand logos over both shoulders, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Naslund's number "26" in sublimated blue numerals while "Näslund" is spelt out in sublimted blue letters across the affixed matching mesh nameplate at the top of the reverse. Void of a fight strap and displaying good game-wear, stick marks appear over the front and both sleeves while board burns are present over both sleeves and the reverse as well. Hailing from Naslund's personal collection and accompanied by his signed LOA, the jersey has been photo-matched with an internet image taken after the gold medal game on February 27th, 1994 that shows Naslund holding his gold medal as well as match to various stick marks over both the left and right sleeves.
