Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
The NHL’s all-time winningest goaltender, Martin Brodeur entered the 2008-09 season needing 14 wins to break Roy's record (of 551 wins) and was on pace to get there in early December before a bicep tear on November 1st, requiring surgery, sidelined the legend for 50 games. Coming back on February 26th against the Colorado Avalanche, Brodeur would win eight of his first nine starts following his return to pass Roy. Also approaching the all-time shutouts mark set by Terry Sawchuk during his career, Marty would end the campaign only two back of Sawchuk by the time the season came to a close. This signed and photo-matched stick was used by Brodeur during the 2008-09 season. Made by Reebok, the 6K model stick in New Jersey's white, black and red colour scheme has "Brodeur" stamped to the upper shaft. Retaining its original tape job of white over the knob and black wrapped around the blade, an annotation reading "Phi" is penned in black ink over the front of the knob, with a stamped production number, serial number sticker and hologram on the underside of the shaft at the handle. Nice game-use is shown with wear to the blade and underside, and marks to the paddle and shaft, along with some red paint transfer to the shaft and heavy blue paint transfer to the knob. Getty Image #83455693 (October 25, 2008 vs Philadelphia) has been matched to a number of marks on the frontside paddle including the straight dark line at the end of the "K" of "Reebok". Brodeur has signed the frontside paddle just above the heel in black marker.
