Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1991 and 1992, Mario Lemieux would win the Conn Smythe Trophy each season, along with the Art Ross in 1992. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame following his first retirement from the National Hockey League in 1997, offered here is this jersey by CCM that is an homage to the yellow coloured tarps worn by the Penguins during the pre-season campaign of Mario's rookie season. A CCM made "Vintage" offering that sports both brand and size "L" tagging affixed to the inner collar, the front of the jersey is decorated with a classic Penguins team crest that features embroidered details throughout. Sporting a CCM logo patch over the reverse hem and accented over the shoulders and verso with Lemieux's number "66" in dual layer black-over-white tackle twill letters. Having had "Lemieux" spelt out in single layer black twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse, the jersey remains in new-with-tags condition with no flaws to report. Signed by Lemieux through the middle of the second "6" on the reverse with a gold marker ink signature that displays well despite some fading from age, the jersey comes accompanied by a COA from Reich Authentic and has had their hologram affixed to the bottom of the signed number.
