Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1991 and 1992, Mario Lemieux would win the Conn Smythe Trophy each season, along with the Art Ross in 1992. This Penguins limited-edition captain's jersey has been signed by the superstar, with the desirable “91-92 Cup” notation added. Mario’s black marker signature sits in the middle of the right “6” on the back with the “64/166” limited edition annotation at the bottom. A Steiner hologram sticker is affixed to the left of the bottom of the signed number. A size 52 flag tag hangs below the NHL Center Ice tagging inside the back of the collar of this black captain’s jersey, the style the Penguins adopted as their road jersey in 1992-93 after their second straight Cup win. A Mario Lemieux career tribute patch sewn below his iconic No. 66 on the right sleeve notes, “1985 Rookie of the Year, 2 Time Stanley Cup MVP, 3 Time NHL MVP, 6 Time NHL Scoring Leader, 1997 Hall of Fame Inductee, 1991-92 Stanley Cup Champions.” Comes with a Steiner COA.
