Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Pittsburgh Penguins legends Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby each did their respective part to mine Olympic gold for Canada. These two signed framed photos celebrate both Super Mario and Sid the Kid for their success, with Lemieux claiming gold in 2002 in Salt Lake City, and Sid following up his 2010 golden goal in Vancouver with a second straight Olympic gold medal win in Sochi in 2014. The Lemieux signed photo is mounted in a 22” x 17 ¾” black frame that has a few nicks and dings that do not diminish its display. Super Mario signed in gold paint pen on the background above his left shoulder on the photo of him smiling in his white Canada No. 66 captain’s jersey wearing his well-earned 2002 Olympic gold medal. This magnificent autographed Lemieux Olympic champion photo displays to 13 ½” x 10 ½” as mounted in a simple and tastefully appropriate and understated white matte. Sid the Kid signed in bold blue marker at the bottom of the 8x10 photo of him skating in his Canada uniform with the Olympic rings colorfully displayed on the rinkboards in front of his image. “Sidney Crosby Gold Medal Champion Sochi 2014” is prominently displayed in an etching in the inset at the bottom of the 21 ¼” x 17” frame, which has a Canadian flag pin displayed in an inset at the top and comes with a Frameworth COA on the reverse.
