Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
The Flower was the first overall pick who rocketed into the NHL with a smile as wide as the net
he dominated. If you’ve watched him stop pucks, you probably saw something special. Fleury
has never been afraid to make an improbable save, a showman, and an elite talent, his career
speaks for itself: multiple Stanley Cups, Vezina, and countless highlight-reel stops making him a
fan favorite for every team he played for.
Now what we have here is a Reebok stick carrying the battle scars from Fleury’s fierce 2011-12
season. Heavy game use is evident throughout, with his original tape job still firmly intact on
both the knob and blade. Puck marks litter the blade, telling the story of countless shots stopped
in the heat of competition. Fleury’s signature, large and well preserved in black marker, is
perfectly placed over the top portion of the paddle. “M.A FLEURY” appears on the namebar on the
shaft of the stick.
Inscribed along the backside of the shaft is “2/18/12 PIT 6 … FLY 4” in black marker, a reminder
of Fleury’s win over the Flyers on that very date, with the stick most likely gifted to Nolan on that day. The stick is photo-matched to a game played earlier in the month on February 4th 2012 vs the Boston Bruins to Getty Images #138318636 to a number of the marks on the tape's blade and to the spots where the tape was ripped. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
These sticks come from the personal collection of Lou Nolan, the legendary voice of the
Philadelphia Flyers. Nolan has been a fixture with the Flyers since the team’s inception in 1967,
starting as a press box assistant before becoming the team’s public address announcer in
1972—a role he’s held ever since. For over five decades, he has been calling plays for Flyers
hockey, his voice guiding us through some of the franchise’s most iconic moments. This of
course includes their back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in 1974 and 1975. These sticks,
personally gifted to Nolan by some of the NHL’s biggest legends, reflect the relationships he’s
built over his storied career and the trust and admiration he’s earned within the NHL community
