Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
A product of Cape Breton in the Q and sitting 2nd all-time in career wins by a goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury has played twenty (20) seasons in the National Hockey League and has won a trio of Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 2009, 2016 and 2017 as well as both the Vezina Trophy and Jennings Trophy in 2021 with the Vegas Golden Knights. Offered here, we present this Penguins jersey worn by Fleury during the 2008-09 campaign in which he posted a stat line of 35-18-7 with a 2.67 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Made by Reebok and sporting both "Goalie Style" and size "58" labels affixed to the inner collar, logo patches of the NHL and Reebok adorn the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Penguins team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Fleury's number "29" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Fleury" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior as well as a Penguins team tag inside the reverse hem that denotes the jersey as being a "2008-2009 Set #1" example, the jersey shows game-wear via heavy amounts of red post paint transfers over the sleeves and reverse, puck marks over both sleeves, an unrepaired cut over the left elbow area and pilling at the end of both cuffs. Also sporting a few small spot stains throughout, a team repair above the front crest and light pilling on the interior, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #84200965 and #84147472 (December 30th, 2008 vs Boston) to puck marks over both sleeves and the team repair at the top edge of the front crest. A Penguins COA will accompany the piece.
