Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Featuring iconic Windy City netminder Charlie Gardiner playing in each and every game throughout the entire season, the Chicago Black Hawks won 21 games in 1929-30, enough for a second-place finish in the American Division. Meeting Howie Morenz and the mighty Montreal Canadiens in the postseason, the Hawks would bow out to the eventual Stanley Cup champions. Produced for the Jan 5, 1930 contest against the Detroit Cougars, we have a vintage Chicago Stadium program. Listing the season on the cover along with the .15 cent purchase price, the interior includes an ad from the city's Alfred Johnson Skate Company featuring Art Sommers and Taffy Abel along with a home schedule and bust-length portrait of coach and HOFer Dick Irvin. The line-up is intact, with the Cougars shutting-out the Black Hawks this evening 4-0, with Ebbie Goodfellow and Larry Aurie both earning a pair of points. Dirt staining is present to the covers along with creases, with a stain to the upper right corner that permeates the pages. There is also some rusting to the staples and minor separations along the spine.
