Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

Goaltending legend Georges Vezina was near the end of his Hall of Fame career when he appeared on this V145-2 card but was still at the top of his game, backstopping the Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup the previous season, while leading the NHL in shutouts and goals against average. He would be the GAA leader again in 1924-25, when this treasure came in with a Paterson’s Hockey League Bar. The 60-card set’s third most important/valuable card behind those of Morenz and Clancy is the Vezina, with this example of card #43 graded VG 3 by PSA. The company’s Population Report confirms the scarcity of William Paterson V145-2 cards; just 19 Vezina cards have ever been inspected by PSA in the history of the firm.
