Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Representing almost a quarter of the entire set, this group of twelve Sweet Caporal photos were part of the forty-eight picture set presented by Imperial Tobacco and inserted into Montreal Forum programs issued for both Canadiens and Maroons games in 1934-35. Included, we have Hall of Fame members Ching Johnson (2), Bill Cook and Red Horner in English text (the Horner has English text on front, French on the reverse) – with these most likely originating from Maroons programs, along with additional Hall members Aurel Joliat, Busher Jackson and Ebbie Goodfellow, as well as Wilf Cude, Mush March, Larry Aurie, Davie Kerr and Jack McGill, all in French text – with these most likely originating from Canadiens programs. Each supplement has been trimmed from the original 6 7/8” x 9 ½” to their current size of approx 6 ¾” x 8”, with the majority displaying well but in low grade, with creases, toning and surface wear.
