Named to the 1981 Canada Cup All-Star Team, Sergei Shepelev also competed in Sarajevo with the Soviet Union at the 1984 Winter Olympics, helping Russia capture gold. We have a Russian National Team CCCP jersey from the early-1980s worn by the 1981 "Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame" inductee. Void of any labeling and sporting a cut fight strap, the vintage garment measures-out to roughly a size 46, with an embroidered Maska crest over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with “CCCP” placed across the chest in individual white tackle twill letters, “21” also appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with no name or plate over the upper reverse. Photographic research shows Russian players wearing this type/style of jersey at the 1981 Canada Cup and at the 1982 World Championships (with the Maska and lower white stripe colored in red like the offered jersey).
The jersey also sports customized lower sides, with the material cut from the base to the top of the striping band over the waist, with this done for a more relaxed fit. A ton of use was witnessed by the desirable international gamer, with the front and sleeves absolutely littered with dark puck and stick marks. Board burns with resulting holes are also situated over each elbow section, with the heat-pressed red colouring over the waist band’s diamond pattern flaking off. We should also note evidence of a former nameplate over the upper reverse.
