Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Originally a member of the East Division upon their inaugural NHL season in 1970-71, the Buffalo Sabres would play out of Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, with their number one draft pick Gilbert Perreault set to lead the franchise. Hailing from the club’s third game in history which also served as their first at home, we have a puck issued for the important event. Quite rare and the first example we’ve ever handled, we’re unsure if the puck served as either a souvenir or an actual game puck from that first contest. Produced by Converse with their screened-on logo over the reverse, the historic keepsake feature’s a Sabres logo centered over the front along with “Inaugural Night” arching above in off-white script, with the date of “October 15, 1970” beneath. With clean logos over each side and just very light gentle wear, the puck survives in beautiful condition, ready for display.
