Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Part of a promotion that offered a chance to win a grand prize trip to the Stanley Cup, the 1964-65 Coca-Cola hockey cap promotion featured 108 different players pictured on Coke and Sprite bottle caps with both English and French variations, with cork liners stamped with a different letter, with the goal of spelling-out “C-O-K-E”. We have a large collection of English-language Coke caps totaling just over 500, which includes a complete 108 set of each player. As one would imagine, there is considerable duplication, with approx. 3-5 examples per-player, with some having more, some less. The majority of the caps in the collection are in the mid-grade range or lower, with both heavier wear and considerable spotting and oxidation to a good percentage. Some caps are also now void of the cork backing. Highlights for each team includes; Montreal – Beliveau (2 caps, with one fairly clean) Cournoyer (3 caps, with two fairly clean) Richard (1 cap, heavy wear and surface loss) Roberts (1 cap, with large indentation and heavy spotting) Ferguson (1 cap, moderate wear with spotting), Chicago – Pilote (2 caps, both with heavy wear and spotting) Hall (1 cap, with surface indentation and spotting) Esposito (1 cap, surface scratches and spotting) Mikita (1 cap, with spotting and surface loss), New York – Plante (4 caps, with one example clean with surface indentations) Duff (2 caps, one with spotting, the other, surface loss) Gilbert (1 cap, spotting and minor surface loss) Howell (2 caps, one clean with small surface indentation) Seiling (2 caps, both darkened/spotted), Toronto – Horton (2 caps, one bent, the other light wear) Sawchuk (1 cap, darkened with surface bend) Bathgate (1 cap, scratches with perimeter surface loss) Mahovlich (1 cap, heavily darkened with surface bend), Detroit – Howe (3 caps, one fairly clean with small surface indentation) Lindsay (1 cap, with surface loss), Boston – Bucyk (1 cap, fairly clean, with minor surface loss and staining) Green (1 cap, heavily darkened).
