Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Originally distributed in tubes of Colgate toothpaste in 1971-72, we have a large collection of hockey head busts totaling 95, with multiples of prominent HOFers Bobby Orr and Ken Dryden. Issued one per toothpaste box, the small plastic heads featured an accurate likeness, with the player’s name appearing over the lower reverse. We have 11 of the 17 heads that constitute a complete set, with heavy duplication present. Included is Orr (10), Dryden (9), Plante (10), Cournoyer (9), Tkaczuk (7), Tallon (13), Unger (6), Ratelle (12), Park and Paul Henderson (7), along with examples for both the regular (9) and error (2-misspelled) Norm Ullman heads.
As one would imagine, condition varies in a collection of this size, with many showing minor wear, especially along the bases and edges. The majority also hold their original off-white colour, with very little to no toning or yellowing present.
