Imagine scoring 104 goals in a season, well, HOFer Pat LaFontaine did that in 1982-83 with the QMJHL Verdun Juniors! This magnificent collection features a 27” tall trophy originally obtained from the Montreal Verdun Junior Hockey Club celebrating the team’s 500th win on Sept. 29, 1985, as noted on plaques on the majestic trophy. LaFontaine’s 104th goal puck is displayed on the front of the trophy, below a French plaque noting his accomplishment. Lafontaine is pictured in the front row of a 1982-83 Verdun Junior team photo that is also included along with a Verdun dressing room plaque noting their 3rd place finish in 1983 and all members of the team, including LaFontaine.
The 104th goal puck is a Verdun Canadiens InGlasCo puck mounted on the front of the trophy. A French plaque above the 104th goal puck reads, “Rondelle du 104 ieme But de Pat LaFontaine”. Plaque on the front of the wood base at the bottom of the trophy reads, “500e Victoires Canadiens Junior de Verdun”.
LaFontaine is seated on the left end of the front row of the 1982-83 Verdun Junior team photo, which measures a shade under 8x10. It is mounted on its original matte that measures 10 7/8” x 14” with the team name at the top and the names of all team members, staff and executives at the bottom.
The 1982-83 Verdun Juniors wood plaque measures 15” x 13 1/4". LaFontaine is listed fifth from the top of the second of two columns of the names of the players, which are listed along with executives and coaching staff at the top, including head coach Pierre Creamer. Part of the team logo painted at the top is scraped off, otherwise the plaque is nicely preserved.
