Swedish superstar Anders Hedberg’s 1977-78 WHA All-Stars game-worn jersey is from the midseason classic that pitted the best of the rebel league against the reigning Avco Cup champion Nordiques. Hedberg scored to give the All-Stars a 2-1 lead in the first period, but Quebec won 5-4 at the Colisee on January 17, 1978. Spectacular and wonderfully preserved blue mesh affair with Gerry Cosby size 46 tagging in the back of the collar has white twill surname letters sewn directly onto the back. Number 15 on the back and both sleeves is sewn-on red-on-white double twill while the WHA crest, stripes, stars, and “WHA” on the front and rear tails are all heat-screened vinyl. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
There is a small mark below the front collar seam, a few marks near the sleeve cuffs, and small reddish-brown stains on the right shoulder.
Hedberg won the Lou Kaplan Trophy as WHA Rookie-of-the-Year in 1974-75, when he scored 53 goals and had 100 points in his Winnipeg Jets debut. He scored 50 goals or more and at least 100 points in each of his four WHA seasons, including 70 goals, 61 assists, and 131 points, all career highs, in 1976-77. Hedberg had 458 points in 286 regular season games in the WHA, including 172 goals and 225 assists, and won the Avco Cup two times as a member of the Jets. He had 397 points, including 172 goals and 225 assists, in 465 games in seven NHL seasons with the New York Rangers from 1978-79 to 1984-85.
